One year on and this story is still valid.

Its the posted comments that reminds us all of personal sentiments though,

and just how much things have come into being. Wink

It was actually an either or (thinly disguised) threat. Wind turbines or 400 new homes not both.

The turbine issue is a dead duck though, it was firmly rejected by TDC councillors. I see some residents haven't lowered their guard as of yet!

The new estate proposed has been mooted about for several years now, in fact since the by-pass which was what 10 years ago?

No firm proposals have ever been put forward for its location but it was always previously alleged to be being built somewhere along the bypass as far up as the Weeley junction and possibly not even on the same side of the road as Earls Hall Farm.

I can't see TDC massively extending Clacton out along that side of town by that sort of size or St Osyth will get swallowed up and become a suburb of the Clacton.

I did actually hear a very strong rumour that the site opposite the out of town Tescos is in line for the new estate.<

Its a funny old world, but old poacher sounds SO much like a current poster in the Gazettes comments sections,

even more strange,

so much like a local councillor too..

Life IS funny at times eh... Wink

While the Ill conceived Earls Hall WINDFARM story blunders along,

GunFleet Sands WORKING windfarm continues:-

30 turbines have been installed so far.

“they have nine turbines generating at the moment and that has pushed the national capacity over four gigawatts,” it was said.

The nine turbines produce enough energy to power 22,500 homes and has pushed the national figure over the four gigawatt milestone – which means that more than 2.3 million homes are now powered by wind energy.

It is expected that all the turbines will be put up by the end of the year and will be connected to the National Grid by next spring.

Once completed, the 48-turbine facility will cater for 120,000 homes – about 20 per cent of homes in Essex.

Once we got used to seeing the windfarm site out to sea, you kind of get used to it I guess.
