For those of us who have free bus pass entitlement,
please take note.

I have had un confirmed reports that if you have been issued a free pass, and you have not used it by April next year, its use may be withdrawn.

My pass is valid till 2013, but i will make sure i now use it as often as possible.

If my unconfirmed report turns out to be uncorrect, then i am sorry, but i still will use my bus pass anyway.

Its another right to have due to age anyway. Wink

How do they know the bus pass has been used Ivan, does this mean they can track holders?

Amenity, i am not yet sure.
If they cannot track holders, how can the pass holders journey time be credited to the bus companies.
As i have yet to use my pass, i no nothing of its working systems.

Maybe a letter or email to TDC`s portfolio holder for such services as bus passes is order of the day here.

I must admit that my informant lives out of our area, and may be in the TFL system in London ?

On re checking my pass, how do the drivers log the journey`s...

With the passes issued by ECC, the bus driver just glances at the pass and issues the holder with a ticket.  There is no way that individual usage of the pass can be checked.  In the Greater London area the Freedom Pass (as I believe it is called) has to be held against a machine that probably registers that it has been used at the commencement of a journey.  These passes are expensive for the issuing Authority and it is to be hoped that people who never use them do not apply for one, thus saving the Council Tax payers the cost.
