I just cannot belive that such a nice area like Frinton has such a bad problem with its under age school pupils engaging sex to such an extent that its schools now hand out condoms on an almost daily basis, and for those that just cannot wait, the morning after pill...
But, am i wrong...

Surely not behind the gates....
or was it the bike sheds....

Haha. I was disturbed by this. It's like they're saying "It's okay, go screw who you want and we'll let you take pills without consequence!" _________________ =D |

Perhaps thats wrong with some of the schools outside the gates.
Acknowledge the fact at what young adults get up to, put plans in place to stop unwanted pregnancies, instead of collating the facts after the event.
In the tendring area, we actually have one or two very good help groups that have councillers that will endever to give help and advice (whatever way its needed) to "at risk" young adults to try and curb the amount of accidental pregnancies.
Being too proud, or too scared to go visit one of these help groups, will give years of heart ache for just 5 minuets of fun..... _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |

| Youve hit the nail on the head here Ivor, not enough attention is given to consequences. |

Problem is, the 'at risk' teens are the ones who refuse the help because they don't want to seem 'uncool' by asking for it. But I dislike how they're bringing this into schools, thats what family planning clinics are for, and by the looks of things, they plan to keep a record on the students who do get help:
| Quote: | issued a limited number of condoms.
...card which will allow them to receive up to three lots of additional supplies...
...students require more they could be brought before the school nurse for counselling.
Emergency contraception... could also be administered following an assessment to girls who have had unprotected sex. |
The card is a decent idea, but to be honest I'd be embarrassed as hell to walk into a pharmacy for condoms if I were younger, which is a primary cause of younger girls getting pregnant, because neither the boy or girl want to go into a pharmacy and buy condoms, and believe these stories about using tampons or crisp packets (I know people who have done both, disturbingly enough, the former required [very] minor surgery to remove O_O).
Education is key here, instead of offering the condoms and sweeping it under the rug. That isn't going to stop these teens going out and having sex, and though many are in relationships, a lot more aren't and end up with STI's because they're so reckless. A large percentage of girls who were in my year at the Colne now have children, have given them up or have had abortions, and a few of those before we'd even finished our GCSE's. But in the past two years the number of girls in that position in the school has lessened, and considering the year below mine were the ones who had the APAUSE scheme I think there is a definately correlation between education and the teen sex. 'course that's just my opinion, but it's something I feel very strongly about and so have concentrated a lot of my time to studying :/ _________________ =D |

When I was young (a long time ago) girls that fell pregnant were thought loose and knowledgeable. How wrong we were, the girls who don't get preggars are the knowledgeable ones.
Natures way of ensuring the next generation is at odds with our society so we must shoulder some if not all of the responsibility. We have allowed numb-sculls to ruin a once pleasant although not perfect land, we have fallen for the free market tripe where money is God. We have suffered fools gladly to run our lives. The children will pay the price. |
