Like most places in Essex, we get the odd bit of trouble.

i will reproduce what a local longstanding resident posted on our website.

"Speaking as a member of a family born and bread round here dating back over 150 years ,the reason you get this sort of trouble is because there is to many Londoner's hear now ,get rid of them and you get rid of most of the trouble."

OK, so what do you all think about that..

Recently, i attended a meeting at Weeley, it was a Strategic Housing Market Assesment group discusion.

We had a mixed audience, all from Tendring.
we had a good presentation given by a very slick bloke, but it was his job, so you expected that.
he gave us lots of facts and fiqures about our District.
he showed lots of graphs on populist migration between areas, one of which was Romford as being the most highest to move from into Tendring.

Now, when you re-read what that postee above had written, do any of your "alarm bells" begin to start ringing...it did mine, so this was my reply.

the trouble is, its a fact that most of the people moving out of london to get away from its troubles, and / or / retire to Clacton.
in just my road, we have 4 or 5 proprties side by side owned by ex londoners...

In Tendring as a whole, the single biggest group of residents to move / retire here are from Romford.

In other areas in the East of england, european nationals of which polish are one, have moved into its area, bringing with them some of their cults and customs, one of them is to carry knifes.

Our own police forces are going back to school to learn Polish to enable to talk with them.

Populist migration is happening whether you / me / us like it, and Tendring is in the middle of it with each new house it builds, and it has to build 1,000`s by 2021.

The main reason the most of the trouble makers are in Tendring is the availability of cheap housing being rented.

So, how do you solve that problem.... Confused

Your reply please to this question..

Who on earth said that Ivan ?.
Now as you all probably know ,most of my family have lived in the Tendring Peninsula for well over 400 years (well thats as far back as a lot of the parish records go ,about 1640 the earliest mention that I can find so far).So here goes.
I have NO problem with anyone moving into this area ,be they white or from any other ethnic  community (that includes Romfordarians ,or whatever they are called  Wink ).My maternal Grandmother came from Romford ,from the Watling family, who moved there in the 1840's from Rayleigh. In fact I think a lot of people from Romford could trace their roots back to rural Essex.
The one thing that Does bother me is when anyone comes here for a holiday and decides to move here.Fine.BUT I hope  they want to come here for a slightly quieter way of life ,so why do so many then decide to try and turn Clacton into a mini version of where they previously lived.Surely that's missing the point entirely.
Clacton itself is a young town ,only really appearing in the last few decades of the 1800's.Funnily enough ,the population of Great Clacton were not too happy about the rapid growth of Clacton even then.So ,nothing new there then.
I have many friends who have escaped from the urban sprawl and moved here and are very happy here.I like a big mixing bowl ,but we cannot complain too much about other groups coming here and wanting to change things. We are guilty of that too .We have a thriving Irish community ,with their own social club ,plus various other establishments that cater for various groups from different areas.
What I DO think is wrong is that we do not try to mix sometimes and this then creates pockets of groups that do not want to join in for the greater good of all.
I do not think that Clacton is unique in this ,a lot of smaller villages and towns are now being built on so rapidly that they too suffer the same fate.By growing too large too quickly there will always be a problem with integrating with each other.
What is lacking is community spirit .How many of us even know our own neighbours ?.
The time to see the good of all the residents in this area is when we all come together to celebrate our town.Carnival week is a very good example of the town pulling together for the good of all.
I think we should stop looking at the differences in each other and look at the similarities instead .We all want the best for our families whatever our race or creed.
And as for the amount of people coming to live here from Romford ,well ,just look back through the centuries and you will find that in the early 1800's we had quite a big influx from Suffolk ,so ,some of the 'Locals' born and bred ,originally are from there.

Very well put young Lin.
as a very outgoing person myself, i have tried to meet and greet most new neighbours, 90% of the time they respond, as its their choice.
I know 90% of the residents on the 2 avenues that border my property.
Some come to me with their problems to see if i can help them.

As a reply to my questions on another board, i`ll put them below:-

small point i might add though, as from last friday, most of Clactons holiday parks open for business, along with the many thousends of tourist holiday makers, many of them infact come from London and its suburbs.
I know, as i was a tourist for 6 years.
We had / have family that moved here in Tendring 30 or so years ago.
My inlaws in fact lived in sea shell way, loved it in fact, but hated it in the tourist season.
It took them 2 years to choose to move out of Jaywick, into quieter areas....

In town last weekend, you would have though they were giving stuff away, it was packed.

I stood next to ex- Pete Beal from eastenders, in the pie n mash shop..
the shop was almost full of londoners down for the weekend....

You cannot get away from Londoners if you live in a coastal area thats main source of income is tourists from mainly London..

When i go to Spain, on the Costa`s, its mainly Londoners either living the life there, or like me on holiday as tourists...

Another point, small as it is, my"other" daughter works in Ilford, her boss lives in Frinton, but drives every day into work, in Ilford, then drives back home again..
The London - Tendring conection is even there....
so, is he a Londoner, a Frintonier, or what.?.?.
He spends more awake time in Ilford than he does in Frinton.

Well thats got the ball well rolling now Lin...

There's nothing wrong with being educated at the school of life.

At least not until you are expelled or as they say now "excluded".

Thank You Vicar ,thats nearly as good as Miss Lawrence giving me a merit point.
Actually what I meant to say is I'm as happy as Dobby when he got his sock (you have to have children to get that one)

Ha..Ha.Ha....

funny thing about school, my dad was an engineer, i must have loved my dad.
i used to walk to his work not far from our then home, then walk home with him for his hour dinner or home time.
At weekends, i used to sit and pick the bits of metal swarf out of the bottoms of his work shoes, why, i dont know, but they stuck in elsewhere again as it was all part of engineering.
anyway, school...

I was asked what i wanted to be when i left school.

Engineer like my dad i told them at the parents open evening.
above my head my teacher said - i doubt if young (15 year old) ivan would ever make an engineer, not up to it he said......

My dad got me a job in his place of work, at the bottom, doing what new kids at work done..(and a lot of talking..lol.)

After a year or two i was sent on day release to Romford Tech college on day release, where good intentioned instructors  teached the great unwashed on how to operate lathes..

At this time i had been taught how to use lathes at work, so i tried to tell how "we" done it....lol....not very happy instructors looked at me, telling me basicaly to shut up and listen....(always been my problem)

As time went on, i learned more and more, all the different types of lathes there were.
I spent years on each one, till a new adventure came along...
little auto`s
manual lathes & auto lathes with hydrulic copy attachments
long bed lathes
ever so long bed lathes
verticle turrit lathes
big verticle turrit lathes
"T" lathes
big "T" lathes
Big double columb V T Lathes.
N C versions
C N C versions
if they had bells and whistles, i would operate them too...lol..

I then took inhouse training to set & opperate a Orliken Siron HM3 3 axis verticle milling machine, C N C controlled and in fact run two at a time..(that kept me busy)

Our customers were:-
Aerospace production & Experimental

Rolls Royce Aero Engines
BAE Systems
Airbus UK.....A319/320/321/340/380 & Beluga (wing transport plane)
GTRE India
ITP Spain
Westland Helicopters
Flight Refuelling
Lucas Defence
Rolls Royce Deutschland
...................................
Automotive Pre-Production & experimental

Rolls Royce Motors
Reynard
Lola
McLaren
Lotus
Jaguar
Ford

the list is endless, but it proves a point...

...."above my head my teacher said - i doubt if young (15 year old) ivan would ever make an engineer, not up to it he said"......

If i can shut up and listen for five minuets, i can learn what i`m being taught.....

moral of my story :- dont ever tell a young Ivan im not up to it....
Me head `aint that good, but my hands are...........(brain works sometimes though)

Don't worry Ivan ,when our eleven year old was asked what he was going to do when he is grown up  he answered  "I'd like to have my own elastic band shop"
If you could have seen the look on his teachers face ...fantastic.
By the way he has also said he is going to be a Plumber for three days a week and run his shop on the other days ,I think he realises that people may  not be as keen on elastic bands as he is.

Lin it could be he feels that his wisdom could be stretched a bit during the week...

Ok i`ll stop now..lol

Doing two jobs is not as daft as it seems.
we are being pushed into that way of working, a way used widespread in the good `ol USA.
Ageism is no barrier either in USA, as one of Jaywicks finest will tell you as he is a "snowbird" during our winter months, living in sunny Florida half of a year..

If  H R H mole wants a elastic band shop as well as a plumbing shop, then the two can be specialist, advertising on the web to millions...?.

As a P.S.
as i got made redundant more than once, even within the same group of companies, i learnt not to put all my eggs in one basket....

Over the years i put my finest tool into play, when "times were hard"....
I can talk for England, so i became a Cab driver aswell.......

SO, another moral to be learnt...

Diversification.....look at what you CAN do, and do well, so do it if needed.

When our son was five he announced that when he grew up he was going to be a scarecrow. He asked if we would help him to find a good field to work in.

He's 33 now and he still hasn't grown up. He's got qualifications in Retail Management, IT, plumbing and bricklaying He works in his mate's shop as a general assistant.

Obviously hasn't found a suitable field yet. Perhaps we should have taken him more seriously and helped him look.
