Posted: Wed Apr 08, 2009 2:26 pm Post subject: Its funny how some areas get a bad name, while others....
As i have been looking around our coasts at various seaside towns elsewhere, i found sunny burnhan on sea, an idillic somerset hideaway for some, but then when you look deeper:-
Its well documented that some of Tendrings "premier" coastal resorts have more than there fair share of trouble.
(i dont even mention the word gates)
We read of murders, tearaway teanagers, underage drinking,
all the things that normaly go on elsewhere,
yet, some other areas get tarred with one old brush time after time after time.
Elsewhere i have posted a report from our monday nights neighbourhood watch meeting, and the biggest argument was on dog poo on our beach.
Not drunks fighting,
not stolen cars,
not untaxed cars,
but our best amenity, our beach`s sand being pebble dashed with unmentionable brown stuff,
and most of that was from the tourists park residents dogs.
I can imagine why people get upset about dogs doo. I walk my boys down Martello towards Jaywick and do pick up after them ,this is a popular beach for all .
But are there any dog bins ?? not really .This was highlighted in the paper last week and I noticed that the chappie from the council said it was ok to use the ordinary bins PROVIDED that the article is well wrapped .New one to me ,but glad I dont have to do my hour long walk whilst gaily (am I allowed to say that ??) swinging this years 'must have 'fashion item (Only on TDC beaches)of a bag of poo with me for the 55 minutes left after my 'little darlings' have 'been'. Now I know ,I can use the bin that I thought I couldn't use.
Perhaps a few more people may use these bins if they know about it.
Having said all that .I must agree with the majority in saying ,Leaving soft brown stones on the beach IS NOT EVER acceptable.
As yet I have never seen a Dog Warden down there either .
Oh leafy garden lady, the story of doggy bins is and has been raging behind the scenes for ages.
and yes, you are correct, most beachfront rubbish bins "should" have stickers saying "this is ok for doggy wrapped do doo`s" or words put more nicely.
Even Ivan sat next to a nice couple at our N-Watch meeting, and the guy produced a cooling bag of doo - doo`s that he forgot he had in his coat pocket, as he had just walked his doggy a bit before the meeting, and not found a proper poo bin available........ ..mmmm....nice...lol
But it proved his point, no visable marked bins = no pockets small enough if you care.. ..
Its all about resources verses time verses man(girl) power verses dog poo bins verses i dont know what else.
As far as i know, TDC only has 2 hard working dog wardens, plus only one van.
The old saying of you cannot be in 2 places at the same time seems very true here....
OK, next bit, and you just know its coming............ ..dont you..............
"but glad I dont have to do my hour long walk whilst gaily (am I allowed to say that ??) swinging this years 'must have 'fashion item"
what am i going to say next........ .......
ha....ha....ha... ..
now, we could go either way with this.......oh stop it..
so, we could go for... ...a toy boy on your arm...(shh be quiet ivan..)
or, no, even ivan wont say nothing about swinging, even though you asked me about miss whiplash...... .....
Oh, dear leafy garden lady, sorry, but the devil made me write it, honest, it were not meee.....
As I have now become a Nun .Sister Lolibelle no less .
I forgive You Ivan.
Not sure how Joy does it on a daily (whoops no ,make that hourly ),basis though.
I have had a problem with some of these bins since I first moved here.
The notice on them reads something like..."This bin must be used for the disposal of carefully wrapped dogs' mess. Anyone failing to do so is liable for a fine up to £1000".
Now call me pedantic if you wish, most people do, but some days I have wandered around for ages looking for some dog's mess so that I can carefully wrap it and place it in the bin, thus avoiding the fine.
I do wish the people who write these notices would read what they have written before committing their prose to metal plaques and scaring the natives.
Reading Vicars witty comment on prose as used by authorities, I felt the same way when going across Morrisons car park and seeing a police car with a blurb on the side saying "we make Essex safer".
And ,I am always very careful never to stand under the parking sign that say's "At Any Time" .Just on the off chance that a scooter driving 89 year old gets any ideas.
