I posted the below on Mr Carswell's website to which he responded. I then responded back saying my wife had filled in no such postcard which begs the question how is he obtainng her name and address so readily.

The second response was not validated - any reasons why i wonder??

My wife has just receieved a letter from Mr Carswell thanking her for her letter to him regarding Climate Change and a very long winded explanation as to the Conservatives party policy regarding this.

This would be completely normal had my wife actually wrote to our MP regarding this or any other issues.

Has anyone else received such letters thanking them for letters they haven't sent. Its been filed appropriately so just wondered why our MP is wasting tax payers money and sending mail to residents that have absolutely no interest in the conservatives policies and no desire to read about them

Dear Harwich Lad,

Thank you for your posting, which, as always, I read with great interest.

A number of constituents have contacted me - mostly my postcard - over the past few weeks to express their concerns about climate change. This campaign is, I believe, organised by GreenPeace, to put pressure on the government and others to take action on this important issue.

I wrote back to everyone who contacted me about climate change setting out my own thoughts on this important issue in some detail.

This might account for why your wife received a letter from me.

Alternatively, it is possible - although I have to say I feel not very likely - that I inadvertently sent your wife a letter on the subject intended for someone else. That could account for it.

Perhaps if your wife were to contact me - or if you were to provide me with her details - I could check?

Either way, I only wrote intentionally to those individuals who had got in contact with me in the first place - a surprisingly large number of people, as it turns out!

My very best wishes to you.

Douglas

A lot of firms use an elaborate software package that give all address details when some part is typed maybe DC uses something like this, he may have had some sparse details of yours and the machine puked it all up.
God knows what will happen when ID cards come about.

well harwich lad i was kicked of the talk clacton site for asking if it was better to elect someone local with knowledge of the area either tory or labour or have someone who has a house in hertfordshire and rents a flat off a tory councillor and i think that upset him a bit,its a bit harsh when he is using our money to run the site and anything he doesnt like he doesnt validate.

No but then to be fair neither did Douglas. He made a mess with his payments but quickly rectified it. I make online payments and still manage to forget at least once a year. Its easily done.

dont you get 3 letters from the council offices first and then a letter from the court before going to court so he must have missed all these,so when you missed your payment did you go to court,i dont think you did because you would have got a letter telling you that you have missed a payment.

The first letter you get tells you you have x amount of days to pay up or you will be going to court. Your right I have never been to court for non payment of my CT so I have no idea how many letters you get. I do know that the tone of the first letter is horrible and scares the you know what out of me everytime I get it.

Did he go to court over his non payment? I've checked the online evening gazette and it says he paid up. No mention of court.

Happy new year to you too. May 2007 bring us all joy, peace and good health.

I'll have a quick search on the nationals. If you have a link that'd be handy.

the sun 17th oct among others said the council had instructed bailiffs and court action to collect the money.my 'friend' at the council informed me that the bailiffs had been round and nobody was there.they looked through the letterbox and all there was there was a pile of letters on the floor.
hope you had a good evening last night.

Thanks I had a lovely night. Down Harwich Quay watching the fireworks.

I would have thought Frankie that your friend ought to be very careful what they tell you. I'd imagine that them giving out what is private information to people would break a few privacy laws.
