Banks have increased interest rates on credit and debit cards held by tens of millions of shoppers despite the cost of borrowing falling to its lowest level for more than 50 years, research for The Independent reveals today.
The Bank of England has almost halved its base rate from 5 to 3 per cent since May, but during the same period the average annual percentage rate for credit cards has climbed from 17.2 to 17.6 per cent. Store cards – already in the spotlight after being accused of carrying excessive rates – have hit a peak of 25 per cent, and the high street chains Principles, Karen Millen and Oasis have raised charges for their in-store cards by 4 percentage points – almost a sixth – to 28.9 per cent.
Mojo, its a bit of a joke in my household over my view
(or percepted view) of christmas.
As i`ve worked more christmas`s than i can remember
(in the past, before i retired to the Gold Coast)
It was like the good cop / bad cop thing on how much to spend at christmas.
I worked till i dropped,
my darling wife and both of the mini me mrs`s,
and all three shopped till they dropped,
all 3 spent it faster than i earned it.
I was called tight / GRINCH / anything else just as ofensive....lol
All because i saw my money going into a huge black hole known as Christmas......
Of course i loved Christmas, but when you work long nights, all night, every night, it puts a funny old slant on it.
To get in about 6 am. be woken up to open prezzies about 9am,
no wonder i never smiled a lot, i had a job to keep my eyes open, even fell asleep once opening my prezzies.......
Hoo-weee, the row that caused.... ..ha..ha..ha...
Never the less, most got what they wanted and some.
The new years eve parties at mine, i paid for, but went to work, poping back for just 30 minuets at 11-30pm...
It was a mad - mad old world i had, but i enjoyed it then...
So, mojo, "a sinister looking Father Christmas!"
Like all things you see, untill you know the story behind the mask,
you will never know the real story...... ....lol
But, what are you smoking Ivan , you baaad boy .
By the way we do not really 'do' Christmas ,I get the Grandchildren presents (I am not that mean ) but do feel it has been taken over by consumerism and greed .In our house ,it is the only day where we don't have to do anything .Peace and quiet, loverly.
But i protesteth my innocence,
the eeevil weed was extinguished years ago...lol.
but,
i is sooo bad when it comes to "smoking" rubber.......
It takes all sorts in this wild and whacky world..
For a grin, me & my mini me used the last bit of life up on his scooter`s back tire in one HUGE big smokeout until it went pop.
Not everyone would think it funny,
but to us it was a treasure..
We neither smoke normal, or non normal things,
We neither drink, well not that much for me,
but mini me does get p*st at scooter weekenders,
while i is not allowed the turnip wine....lol
but on our private ground, doing a one time burnout we find amusing,
old homer never filmed it correctly for youtube, so we cannot share it.
it takes allsorts, but its just the smell thing that does it for me & mini me.
