| I have a friend (in his late sixties) who cycles 50 miles per day with ease and has been known lately to do 150 miles, he swears by raw vegetables. |
I have a friend (in his late sixties) who cycles 50 miles per day with ease and has been known lately to do 150 miles, he swears by raw vegetables.
.. full of praise for the guy...i once cycled from clacton hospital to jaywick, and thought i was having a hart attack half way home along the sea wall......lol...now i must try harder to lose some weight, it may make riding my bike a bit easier on certain parts of myself too........lol......my trouble is most parts of me have something wrong, one way or another..its the legacy of too much work for far too long.....lol..but i still have a good sence of humor, i hope.. _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |

Humours half the battle Ivan - it helps us do what we may think at times is impossible.

My neighbour ,who is in his mid 70's regularly cycles from Clacton to Walton just to "get a breath of fresh air" !!.
Reading throught your comments has inspired me to get my 'old faithfull' out of the shed.Pumping up the tyres was hard enough
What happened to those lovely comfy seats that bikes used to have.
Thinking of investing in a tractor seat to fit on it ,then there will be room for a nice comfy cushion
My New Years Resolution is to ride the thing more often ,a question for you Ivan ,why do my legs go wobbly after a couple of miles....think I know the answer |

Good Grief !!
I will certainly be sending a letter to my GP.
I am astounded that our details could be accessed by so many different bodies. Is nothing sacred in our country anymore.
The worrying thing about it all is ,how many people wil not go to see the GP in fear of having their private details read by all and sundry.
I feel there will be an escalation of undiagnosed mental illness ect.The most vunerable members of our society will not seek treatment in case it is revealed in 20-30 years time.
I'll place bets on them not telling the whole truth as well.
Say ,for instance,a young woman suffer from Post Natal Depression and overcomes it to lead a full and healthy life ,will it inform all and sundry that she had Depression and not explain the reasons behind it.That woman will be labelled a 'depressive' and not someone who has recovered.
I would go with Amenity here and recommend that everyone reads the attatchment provided.
Thanks for enlightening me as I was oblivious about this. |

I feel there will be an escalation of undiagnosed mental illness ect.. | .. i was going to start this as "its funny" but its not... after a couple of bad years with her partner, a close family member was diagnosed with"bi-polar disorder"... she is now "o-k" but its with her for quite a while yet.... this will stay on her medical records for a long time.... when she is ok to go back to work, just how much will it be a hindrence if future employers find out about her sad time...?..?.. _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |

My thoughts entirely Ivan.
They say it will only be'Official' bodies with access to this ,but for how long ???.Laws change all the time and I feel it wil only be a matter of time until you can pay to see information held.
You could go to the other end and say ,for instance, a young lad 'experiments' with drugs or alcohlol (by the way I'm a boring tee-total so we can discount that one regards wobbly legs) for a couple of years in his youth ,then cleans himself up and gets on with his life ,becomes a 'model citizen' never in trouble ,pays his taxes but what he did 30,40 or even 60 years ago comes back to haunt him.
I know by researching and Genealogy how much info there is out there.Things that went in records long ago under the pretence it was classified private are now freely available to those who pay to see it.
Do you really want your Gt Gt Grandchildren knowing about 'that nasty little itch' that you suffered from??
I feel this is a step too far.

Thanks for the link Ivan - good god that is just horrendous. Perhaps the link should be (if it hasnt already) be put on the ID card thread on the other site.
I had PND after one of my kids - the thought that any Tom, Dick or Harry will have the ability to read all the little details is just plain scary. I'm not ashamed of it and I freely admit and discuss it as I believe thats the way to destigmatise mental illness. But there are things that happen that are personal to me and I do not now probably never want to share. |

I think DC is not happy about ID cards. Cannot remember where I read it but I believe this to be the case. |
