Anyone who has been into Clacton town centre over the last few days cannot fail to notice the traffic diversions caused by road resurfacing works going on.

Ok, the roads look nice now,
the roads look as if a new exciting town centre is emerging now,
it looks as if the new roads are being paid for from some kind benefactor.

Ok, lets look at this part of town again.

Pier Ward is grouped in with Golf green as being credited as being the 3rd worst deprived area in the UK.

Pier Ward HAS recieved very large amounts of Gov cash to try to redress the tag of 3rd worst deprived area in the UK.

Meanwhile, its co partner as being the 3rd worst deprived are in the UK is recieving very little in the way of money being spent on it,
AGAIN !

Just how can this be so one wonders ?

Yes, the 4 roads that have been resurfaced do look better but what a shame the pavements haven't been repaired as they are very shabby and uneven and long overdue for attention.  The work was done by ECC and not out of regeneration funds.  I think the problem with Jaywick is that a lot of the roads are unadopted and considered to be in private ownership.  It might be an idea for Jaywick residents to mount a campaign, perhaps through their Forum, to have the roads adopted by ECC, who would then be obliged to keep them in good repair.

Ok, for the record,
(and all those no nothing pundits)

a "group" met with ECC councillor Stephen Castle reciently, and much was discussed.

I am not at liberty to divulge the content, but rest assured, roads were spoken of.

A much used phrase of "watch this space"
can be used to describe matters in hand.

" It might be an idea for Jaywick residents to mount a campaign, perhaps through their Forum, to have the roads adopted by ECC, who would then be obliged to keep them in good repair."
Mynabird, i think you will find our unadopted roads ownership has now been taken on by the crown, and with it, certain legalities are being put into place.

thank you.
