Makes you think !!

The price of Petrol versus Printer Ink

All these examples do NOT imply that petrol is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....

You will be really shocked by the last one!
(At least, I was...)

Compared with Petrol......

Think a gallon of petrol is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz £1.29 .. £10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz £1.19 ...........£9.52 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz £1.25 ......... £10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz £3.15 ...... £33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz E8.35 ... £178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz £3.85 . £123.20 per gallon

Tippex 7 oz £1.39 ....... . $£5.42 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz £1.49..£21.19 per gallon!    £21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source

(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

You don't even want to compare it with perfume or after shave.

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?

So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at................
(you won't believe it....but it is true........)
£5,200 a gal.. (five thousand two hundred pounds)

So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, or Tippex, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

Just a little humour to help ease the pain of your next trip to the petrol pump...

And - If you don't pass this along to at least one person,
your exhaust will fall off!!

Okay, your exhause won't really fall off....but I hope you run out of toilet paper!

Regards,

from the penny pinching old person whoes printer has refused to work, and i`ve just bought a new black cartridge from Tescos for about £12 and the printer still dont work, and a new printer was only £24 odd in Tescos..

The writing on the front of my hat spells G U M when i look in the mirror..

Ivan what make is your printer ?

Inkjet printer tubes have a tendancy to clog up over a period of time, I had the same thing happen with my Epsom Colour Inkjet.

First the black stopped, no matter how may head cleaning cycles I ran and despite putting in new cartiridge, still no joy, then the yellow stopped.

Had a look on the net and found this really greate site.

http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/

A US site but they have really good info and they provide inkjet tube cleaning kits.  Ordered one, followed the instruction, ran the cleaning fluid thru the tubes [it is a special type of cleaning fluid specifically for inkjets] and problem was fixed.  The kit contains enough supplies to clean your printer at least a dozen times and saves wasting any existing catridges you may have.

Cost of kit including shipping was $14.50 and service was fast and good

Printer has been working fine for last 8 months and still going strong.

BTEW can you not use the ink refill kits on your printer , cheapper than new cartridges.

A further item Ivan,

Epson printers are one of the few where cartridges cannot be refilled, but if your Ink cartridge has a built in print head then you may well be able to get refilled by the following company

http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk/frame/pages/refill.htm#type

Cost is £5.00 for black cartiridge plus £1.00 p & p for up to 2 cartridges.

pepsi, I think you can buy a zapper for the Epson cartridge that resets it, although computer fairs are harder to come by these days.

Hi Amenity,

You are right that you can buy a gadjet to reset the chip on the Epson printer cartridges but I must admit I have never bothered, I use non Epson named generic cartiridges and they work very well on my printer, buy them a batch at a time when deals are going on  Very Happy

Apart from the clogged jet tubes, have never had any other problems.

I do have a Lexmark colour inkjet printer Model Z53 complete with a couple of unopened cartridges and installation disk, full working order,  looking for a new home.

Don't want to give it to someone who will simply sell it to make a few bob, would rather it went to someone who would use and benefit from it so....

Funny enough I've been using a laser printer for the last eight or nine years.  It's an old Epson C900, I don't use the colour so just refill with a compatible powder very easy to do although my hands get a little bit dirty during the refill process.

£20 equates to about 6000 B&W A4 sheets of type.

Many thanks for all your help / offers.
me being me (stuborn) i will take apart offending H P printer / copier and give it a bit of a clean.
it is a PSC 1400 type, and although only a couple of years old, its done stirling work.
if all else fails, its plastics can be recycled (after i`ve jumped up and down a few times on it to vent my frustration).....lol

Many thanks amenity.

we also have remember another great deal thats currently on offer at Tesco

If i`m right,
you spend £50 or over in one transaction in our local store in Brook retail park,
(and maybe others)
then this entitles you to another 5p  per full litre OFF the tesco pump price.

so if you save the coupon until you need to fill your tank, you get lots off.

It's worth saying that Morrisons knock what amounts to 1.5 pence of per litre if you use their petrol card.

The upside of this is it's anonymous unlike loyalty cards that need to know your date of birth, what you eat etc.

And, even if you only spend £5 on petrol it all adds up unlike those schemes where you have to spend £50.  £49 just is not enough.
