but who is paying for the town cwntre manager, will it be the traders?
no,it is coming out of the communities fund. if you look on the clacton chamber of trade web site you will be able to read about it in their minutes, but who will pay when the fund runs out?
How many playgrounds could £35,000 improve in the area, we dont even have a playground in the area i live.

Not sure if its the first or not, but its the first one that i've heard of. Apparently there was an accident in Jackson Road between a car and a bus on Friday afternoon/evening!

PAUL WELLER---A TOWN CALLED MALICE.....................................
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its funny really, i am just listening to a brillient singer called Paul Weller, he was singing - A Town Called Mallice--|n the song, it refers to a sad run down Town, just listening to some of the words it can echo our Towns future IF we are not carefull..< Stop pop apoligising, things you`ve never done, time is short, life is cruel, its up to us to change...........Its not that new a song, but its bang up to date in the future of OUR Town.....Find the song, listen and learn..............

Do you know, its bad really, our Town Centre had been warned in advance of all the money spending "tourist" that were coming to town on Sunday..
But did anyone listen...Nope..
Not only did whoever decieded that 400 scooters riders/ pillion passengers were to be parked over a mile away from the days venue, not only did said riders etc want food and drink after some of them had travelled 70 miles or more, but to try and ge them to park so far away from their most expensive of machines would have been more akin to wanting to chop the riders arms of for the "privilige" of coming to Clacton -on- sea.
The words UNWELCOME dont even come into it.
Logistics now..If you have 400 or more tired / hungry / weary travellers who all have one passion in life, be it female / male / whatever--lol...SCOOTERS, the way of life, the social following of it, be it meeting old friends from other clubs..or just out with the crowd, to be part of a fun group what ever your age, that group must have eventually spent about £3,000 And they were made UNWELCOME as tourists....
What sort of message does that put out to future groups that want to come to our "great" or was that "once great" Town..
Next weekend we have a ride out to Southend- on- sea, where scooters and motor cycles not only are made WELCOME but encouraged to park on the very front that "tourists" arrive to see and like..
Even more normal tourists look at the invading bikes and its a free bike and scoter show for them, mums / dads / kids of all ages love em, always asking about them, always telling us about when they had one...
OK, what about us "hooligans"...you just have to laugh at that one, as i call some of Clactons own club members GOOLIGANS, that grandad and grandma hooligans to you...lol
The average age for most club scooter riders is 16....think again...46 more like..I`m 59 today and proud to be a club scooter rider, with few others older than me.....
On Sunday, we had a 40th birthday suprise for our club organiser, with family all there too.....
If no more clubs come to spend hard earned money in Town again, the shop keepers MUST ask just why is it that Clacton does not like Tourist at all....
A sad state of affairs in reallity.... What makes it worse is that i have to try and defend Clacton, because i live here, but how long can you defend a Town that CANNOT help itself, that CANNOT get itself of its own backside, despite "fountains of youth"--roads that dont want you to drive down, even worse, a town that does not, or cannot get a Manager to wave a magic wand over...It may have worked for telly on the sooty and sweep show, but in the big boys and girls world, magic seldom works, not in our town it dont..........

Never mind Ivan, The council have just announced how they intend to "improve" Clacton within the next 3 years Smile.

I can relate to the age thing as I used to be a biker myself in the days when it was not common to see a female on a big bike [Honda400/4].

I was actually refused a shandy in a well known pub near Harwich because "they did not serve bikers", obviously thought I was going to trash the place on my own, all 5'4" and 9st of me Smile.

On a serious note, I do agree with you, if we do not make an effort for these events and try to encourage people here then we can not call ourselves a holiday resort.

Pepsi, as you`ve seen the light........lol....seriously though, i`ve just watched an hour of at the "ACE CAFE weekend".. On the Saturday 1,000s went to London to hand in a petition for "stop the spills".. police outriders leading the bikers through red lights all the way...brill.......
On Sunday was the ACE CAFE mods an rockers reunion to Brighton.....
Up to 10,000 bods on 2 / 3 wheels (a few on 1 wheel..lol.)......
All parked up on the very posh lower esplanard thingy...
So many people enjoying themselves all in one town...all in one day...
Can you honestly seeing it happen in our Town......No way with the blinkerd outlook that our planners have got...
Every seaside town that has regular weekend events has 1,000s of pounds taken in the shops and cafe`s etc....
On the ISLE OF WIGHT scooter bank holiday weekend =3days= the ferries run 24hrs a day, they take over to the is Confused land in excess of 16,000---yes 16,000 scooters....
Logistics= the ferries make a fourtune, the shops, pubs, cafes....you name it, they make it...
The tourists are WELL looked after wherever they park, the tourist :- us -: love it, go back year after year after year......
Moral of the story....Somebody SERIOUSLY needs to take them blinkers off, or they WILL run into the sea, never to be seen again..........
Lost without trace brings a new meaning into our Towns future if it does not look-learn and listen....3 of the most basic rules you have to learn when you start school....... Confused

Well ,I finally found the courage to have a peek at the whole of the town centre(well ...ok, I cheated a bit and got the hubby to drive me round last night.
You really don't want to know my exact words as it would have to be censored.
What I did see was road works ,grotty filthy boards blocking the road ,twenty or so chavs spitting ,fighting and being obnoxious to the few people brave enough to walk and NO summer lights bar one paltry string across Station Road.............IT'S EASTER !!!!!!!! Shocked Shocked what impression our earlier visitors get must be complete disappointment after paying to come here.
I know the improvements will benifit part of the town but heaven knows who did the timetable of works.

Today, i drove my nearest and most expensive into town centre to gain access to her bank...
As i drove towards the new turn right and your nicked, or turn left and park if you can, in the middle of the blocked road, were two very harrassed PCSO`s doing their best to inform the motoring public just where do they go from that dead end point in town...
I just lent on the pedestrian barriers outside the NAFFI...(MacDee`s) on the bend of the NO-ENTRY during 10am till 4pm.Pier Ave Central, i was drawn to listen to an elderly couple in a car swearing his head of at the polite PCSO who was doing his best to inform MR Angry that he cannot drive down the no entry during opening hours Pier Central Ave.......
Mr Angry was going to bust a blood vessel at the poor PCSO....
MANY _ MANY motorist were in Town today, some for the first time, many were totaly confused as to whats going on, to where they were supposed to go, or just plain confused about it all........
Yet again, directions, or the lack of them, shone out like a lazer in a dark cloud over our Town Centre............

On the BBC News team in Look north, a piece on the regeneration of Mablethorpe, along with much more of the whole part the coastal area their, is up for regeneration........
MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF POUNDS BEING SPENT ON IT ALL.......

JUST WHERE HAS OUR REGENERATION GONE..........
GONE WRONG< THATS WHERE>>>>>>>>

So, what does our portfolio holder for technical services [which includes responsibility for highways, lighting, local transport etc.] have to say on this matter ?

The only good thing to come out of the town centre for me is finding lots of super shops elsewhere that are genuinely pleased to see you.If the parking is free ....you will find me there.
When we went to town to be nosey ,we also found out that you cannot get to Jackson Road when you go down Station Road.....a scenic tour of the Pier Gap and up past the police station to get there....
If ,and I mean if ,I ever get the courage to ride my old boneshaker (with a tractor seat Shocked )down there .....I'll be the Granny going the wrong way down a road getting shouted at by all and sundrey......that reminds me ....must go to the chemist near the FREE car park in Old Road and get some ear-pugs he he he Wink

OK, young LIN........

You have good news....

You have some bad news.....

Ok, good news first...Many posts ago i was moaning..(me ? moan ??) about the turn left lane from Pier Ave. Central into Jackson Road, that was only for Busses and Cycles............
Well, at long last, common sence has prevailed, and now motor cycles can also turn left too.......

Hip-Hip-Hooray, you all shout while dancing in the streets outside the Edinburgh Woolen Mill........
Ivan has got his wicked way at LAST.....

NOW the Bad News.........

From 10am till 4 pm, all cars, vehicles - taxis, except busses and short stay delivery vehicles CANNOT drive into pier Ave.Central......

DOOOOHHHHH.......

So if i cannot yet drive / ride my motor/cycle / scooter into that said Road, how can i turn left into said jackson Road, even if the road side sine said its ok for me to turn if i want to...........

DOOOOHHHHHHH......

I know, i will have to carry said motor scooter in my arms like a loving owner of a tired toy, all along the restricted road that carries the name of Pier Ave. central, until i spot that magical of white rectangular sines that proclaimes its OK for me to put down my much loved Motor scooter, then proceed to start the said vehicle and go round the bend....(turn left really...lol..)...

PLANNING----WHAT PLANNING.......ha..ha..ha..... Rolling Eyes

So does that mean I have to carry my pushbike too ?????????Blow that for a game of coco.I'm orf to Frnton to see if it's any better there ,though last time I visited the Posh neighbours I found it was best to take out a really good life policy as the reflexes of some of the Frintonians leaves a lot to be desired .
They drive past a parking space then ,when they are 50 yards (sorry I still calculate in imperial mints) up the road they decide that they really wanted to park in that space ,regardless of the fact that vehicles are behind them. They then grind the gears into reverse (as the thing is normally stuck in 2nd and has been all the time the owner has had the car Wink )and start to reverse faster than they have ever gone forward ,not looking in their mirror (arthritis you see ,can't turn their heads at all).Best to shut your eyes and hope for the best.
BUT the parking is FREE and you can park near the shops .
So if we cannot park in Pier Ave and the other spaces are full of taxi's and blue badges and buses and delivery vans ....where are the good folk of this town going to park ??? How long before the prices of the car parks go up ???
Ivan have you got a spare lid I can borrow to accompany my borrowed elbow and knee protectors ......oooooooh and I want some of those pokey out tings (bright orange sticks that stop cars coming too close)......I can see I will have to prepare myself for the great cycle into town Embarassed
I tink that the council should lower the car park fees for us who live here like a sort of parking permit ...........

The new regulations seems so typical of TDC first they go one way then change their minds, then back the other ad infinitum. As has been said before the day they actually make up their minds is the day hell freezes over.

Hey Lin Frinton is great you can abandon your car at any angle you like in the name of parking (no one bats an eyelid, as they have seen it all before). One street two ways how easy is that lol

Hey! I was in the town centre this lunchtime and the fountains were working! Whether this was a 'practise run' or whether they have been officially 'switched on' I don't know.
Whilst trying not to appear too interested - I didn't want to be mistaken for a supporter - there seemed to be only a handful of people taking notice. (maybe everyone was doing the same as myself!)

Did I read it right digging up the pavements again near the fountains, but they have only just been laid. Who pays for this debacle?

Yup ,Got it in one Amenity ,perhaps when they re-lay it they could use whoever dreamt up this beautification idea up to be placed under it to level it up a bit ,never in my life have I seen such uneven paving.
As for who is going to foot the bill...............silly question..... Rolling Eyes
