And about time, too.
I was at the Village about three months ago and it reminded me of a WildWest ghost town.
So many empty shops and very few customers.

I did read someplace that TDC had asperations to roof over our town center along its no go area in Pier Ave...
I wonder if it really meant Clacton Village.
It would be good to see the Village rescued.....BUT.....
at what cost to the allready struggling Town center.....

As this is posted elswhere, but its sort of connected, in a fun sort of way...
Vicar, you are oh so clever.
" Clacton will have a South and a Central pier added to complement the famous Pleasure Beach. Asda will move into the Shopping Village."
Why not combine all 3 together......
If a water way was dug from near Horsey island, right across and up to the tradesmans entrance of the village, we could see visitors abund.
Import enough sand from France (so them froggies loose its beach`s)
you idea of new piers would then be inland adjacent to tidal flow (or was that tidal Flo)
Them hugemungus ferries could then anchor up at horsey Island, and fleets of rice boats would ferry foriegn freddy`s frantically up to a man made beach, cum ADSA built halfway into the village.
Tourism would be at an all time high, it may even rival a soggy Southend Saturday sometime soon.
scanty clad girlies would be wisking whisky n`water while waiters watched women wizz westwards with white wetsuits upon their pert parts practising perfectly posed poises preciously pertinent...
