Clacton Town Centre Roads

traffic
ivan burit

Just a reminder that some of our town centre roads will be shut for the day on Sunday April 1st-------------------------------------------------

"traffic"
Was a group in the 70`s & 80`s ?.. Ok enough of this... April 1st, yes, all fools day--we are having the all the scooters arriving into town centre some time about mid-day, they are rolling on from a big meet up in Chelmsford..
During the later part of the arriving masses, (1pm) down at the Beach Diner thats near to the Life boat slipway, there will be live music, food, and for those that dont drive is a nice bar..
So if its Soul - regge or just super sounds to blast the cobwebs away, you gota be there, or miss it.......You just might see meself there too.....

I have taken the below post from the Transport For Londons website..
its all about pollution....bad pollution thats being emitted by the very worst vehicles we have that drive into our town centre..
Because of the way all the busses all gather in one place, to stop and start from one place, idle with engines running in one place, the air quality in town centre is the most concentrated area of toxic health threatening pollutents that you can get, so kids in buggies, mothers, elderly and inferm and those with breathing dificaulties, all breathe this in while getting on, getting off, or just sitting waiting for a bus.....

A Low Emission Zone scheme would aim to improve London's air quality by encouraging operators of large diesel vehicles to clean up their fleets. From 2008, diesel lorries, coaches and buses that fail to meet a minimum pollution standard face having to pay a charge if they drive within Greater London. Such a charge would be designed to act as an effective incentive for operators to modify or replace dirty vehicles.

Research indicates that around 1,000 early deaths and another 1,000 hospital admissions may have been caused in London in 2005 by PM10 (particulate matter) air pollution. PM10 concentrations in London exceed the European standards, which are designed to safeguard human health. They can worsen respiratory and cardiovascular conditions, including asthma and carry cancer-causing compounds into lungs.

Posted: Fri Jul 13, 2007 7:24 am Post subject: getting back to town centre parking....again...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, i WAS given promise that town centre parking bays for motor cycles were being given to be placed near / opposite the Hospice at Jackson road area............

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THAT WAS MONTHS AGO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, on my motor cycle i went to park in town centre, i went looking for my motor cycle parking spaces........
I`m still looking..................
Can anyone from County highways / TDC / Beach contruction give me / us on motor cycles, a valid reason WHY we still have not been given bays to park.
I / WE have been given assurences as to our parking bays.
But, in reality, we have been given nothing...
Now this poses a question, i / we / can, and will, legaly park our motor cycles in any car parking bay / space this will reduce the amount of room left for a car......
WE HAVE NO OPTION------WE HAVE TO PARK SOMEWHERE--------
Douglas, can you poke the powers that be, with a sharp stick and ask why this parking bay thing has not been actioned as promised.....................................
I can and will make a protest out of this if its not sorted soon.................................
All this and more from your sea shore reporter, telling how it is..........
