My immediate reaction is that it's just another way to get any info about us that the DVLA hasn't already.
F'instance - when I had a car I always dealt with the Post Office and never gave my email address anyway.
To enter this competition it is mandatory to include it.

mojo, as i tax all my vehicles online now, they have my email address anyway.
The way i figure it is as soon as you log onto any website, they have your IP and your email address.
By using online facilities to pay bills like car / bike tax, you dont have to go into town, stand in a line waiting, you still have to either pay by card or go to a bank for cash to pay for it.
No hassle,
No parking nightmares,
No listening to grumbling, waiting people like me......lol.
P.S.
did you notice the car you can win is in the zero payment class for new vehicles, so no more queing again for ever.....

If they have all this info already why don't they just ask for your car number?
Only if you have a static IP can your email address be so easily got most have an auto assigned ip address.

amenity, the police used ANPR system used both mobile as fitted into vehicles, and central databased, flags up if any vehicle has something wrong with it.
It actually tells the officers something is wrong and highlights the vehicles number plate.
what this has got to do with IP addresses i`ve no idea, but the post office dont need your car number, only a bar code on your form to seek info from the ANPR database for car tax purposes.
You CAN go online to check your own information for your cars legalities, bu using the referance number on your tax reminder / sorn document..
