Well EG lets just hope so.
We in "west clacton" have been let down by the powers that be SO many times, we get hardened to the "we are going to help you" talk by TDC...

I suppose it should be said that the Gas House Creek scheme cannot go ahead without the port development.
I've heard that Felixstowe South phase one will start this year with phase two starting some years later, of course this is just a rumour, and with the expected down turn in trade why would anyone spend millions of pounds if there is not a foreseeable return?
Lets not forget that other ports are being built elsewhere that could reduce demand for Felixstowe.
Felixstowe was built as most will remember to get the bosses out a the clutches of the unions on the London Docks, not because it has a natural place as a dock, it has been created rather than developing over an extended period of time. 63% of containers go north of Manchester so I am told.

I do have my doubts that this will happen, even the leader of our illustrious TDC, David Lines, advised in one of the first Council Meetings following the local elections that no hopes should be pinned on this scheme going ahead - so if he is so upbeat about it, you do wonder.
