Phyll Hendy does it again!!!

Last year ,I was given a booklet written by the wonderful Phyll Hendy of St Osyth ...A Toosey Twelvemonth ...brilliant read about St Osyth at the turn of the 20th century.
This lovely lady is the Local History Recorder for St Osyth ,a veritable gold mine of information and a real 'Toosey Whooper'as well as a good all rounder.
Yesterday ,I was given as a belated Mothers Day present ,her latest book Treacherous Tides ,had my nose glued to it until the wee small hours .It is about the flooding that the Tendring peninsular has had for the last 600 years ,with a large section on the 1953 floods ,it covers Manningtree ,Walton ,St Osyth ,Harwich,Brightlingsea and Jaywick .With lots of photo's and stories from people affected by the floods.
I believe it is available from the Spar shop in the village and would recommend it to anyone who lives in these areas as it is very informative and will highlight just what actually happened on that night.Especially as a lot of folk still think that the flood waters came over the sea wall at Jaywick that night.
Ivan get your scootie out and whizz along the sea wall to Toosey and get yourself a copy ,only a few pounds and a really good read.
Thank goodness for folk like Phyll ,without her ilk we would forget our heritage .
