Riverdance latest pictures.

The long story of the salvage of the riverdance continues.
The hard weather has hampered the removal of sections being cut from the remaining hulk.

One or two really thought provoking snaps there Ivan.  I've saved a few, sad or what?

From what was a simple beached ocean going vessal with full cargo, to rusted cut up scrap metal for export to china......

One day the real reasons why it went that route may become available to us.

One wonders what if..
what if it happened on Felixtowe beach, or Dovercourt or Hollands beaches.
Would it have been handled better..??

From an ex engineer`s point of view, all things mechanicle that are just wasted, is pure waste.
for instance, this evening, i`ve spent (wasted.?.) a couple of hours trying to get an old chainsaw to work..
i dont really need a chainsaw, but to me its just a challange..
its mechanicle, its not working, i`ll try to fix it if i can.
I have been given a hardly used petrol lawn mower, that its owner just kept uncovered for a few years...its a challange...if it does not go, it will join the riverdances scrap on its way to china, but,
i`ve tried.......keeps me head sane, my hands active, and   me out in the fresh air / sun to boot....

Now down to 1.2 knots heading 127' very strange, dont know where she is going now, she is not even head to wind and hove to, as wind direction is Westerly Storm 10 -- Merchant Brilliant and Arrow are still returning towards Heysham away from her.

Great video from BBC but the question that has gone unanswered is who took the decision to stand down Merchant Brilliant and Arrow?  Ill fated decision anyway as it turned out.
ivan burit

From her axis, at times confusing, the reason to stand down help may have been the hope that riverdance had managed to re start her engines.
but the thought of her engine room staff, broadside on to high seas braking over her, cargo shifted, vessal listing, engine room no doubt under the threat, or actually almost water logged...i dont know..
I do know whatever type of water you like, and diesel/ heavy oil or whatever fuel used to start or restart her egines, do not mix..

The mystery still remains though that help before she beached never reached her in time..
Another ship alongside, to take the brunt of the weather, would have taken some of the pressure off Riverdances engine room staff.
I would imagine that close to, this would be very dangerous, but,
so is a slowly sinking vessal...
