Lin said,

"Every large town I visit seems to have a central park for residents ....where is ours? I for one don't want to sit by a fountain full of last night excesses and eat my picnic on a summers day"

This thought has crossed my mind too Colchester has one Ipswich Northampton, Cambridge, just as you say Lin then look at what we have in Tendring area towns.

Clearly public amenity is not top of the list in Harwich where the park has been reduced already by about a third (built a school on it and proposals are afoot to trash some more with 'flats'.

Sickening!!!!!!

My husband originally comes from Chelmsford area (we forgive him).Whenever we go to Chelmsford to the Records Office (head buried in stacks of old files and records ect)we often have our lunch in the main park there. On a sunny day it can be lovely.
I know Clacton has it's beach and the gardens at the top ,but ,it is not a tranquil place to be ,Castle Park gets busy but I have spent many balmy afternoons there with the Grandchildren.
Clacton and Harwich seem to have forgotten that the parks are our lungs ,crikey ,even the Victorians insisted on recreational parks for the community to get together on high day and holidays. This is the 21st Century and we just keep on building and building on anything that looks like it's about to grow some greenery.
These places are not just for peace and quiet and a break from the busy world. They are our place to meet people and enjoy the company of others
and get to know who is in our community.
Places like this should have bushes and trees and places to hide for the little ones and somewhere to sit and chat.
Clacton and Harwich are both towns that are growing at a fantastic rate but lack the sociability that should go with it.We do not know our neighbours because we live at such a frantic pace.If we had areas to go to and stop and chat to other folk we may, just ,be able to regain that sense of community that is lacking.
When we were young we all knew nearly everyone in our neighbourhood ,we wouls worry if we didn't see an elderly neighbour and go and check on them ,Mums would get to know each other at the parks ,clinics and shops and life long friendships were made ,now we all sit in our back gardens ,frightened to let our growing children out ,just in case.
Lets reclaim our communal land and tell TDC where they can go with their plan to turn us into a mini London all covered in concrete.....oh I forgot ,we cannot even compare ourselves with London ,because as mad as life is there ,they still have the parks bestowed upon them by their fore fathers.

I've just got back from town (Clacton) and just have to tell you what I overheard on the bus:
1st elderly lady to another: "How's the family?"
2nd lady: " Fine. My son's in Bulgaria at the moment. His firm has sent him there for three months."
1st lady: " He's welcome to it. I hate Spain."

.......OH Girly, pheeewweee, you really are going for it youg Lin.......lol.......You are right though, coz even "i" sat in the little piece of tranquility of a garden at 5pm or so,in the middle of the city, monday before last, quietly munching me Boots meal deal, whilst looking at one of the city of Londons most famouse landmarks, and gardens, as built 100`s of years ago, still standing, defiant to all those who dropped "stuff" at it.....ST. PAULS CATHEADRAL.........

It just seems to me that someone somewhere has a thing about flats and pokey little houses,we have no space ,when we are herded together with no means of escape ,that is when friction starts.

As if a L'il ole carrot crunching Clactonian girl would tink something like that Embarassed Embarassed
And as,you are already in your designated naughty place where you are allowed to misbehave, we will forgive you this time. Rolling Eyes
Tinking about going to Frinton tonight ,if the kids can't keep up then ,I'll try the Gospel prayers ,sounds like fun.....
Went to have a look at the town centre beautifying scheme today ....Gawd WHAT HAVE THEY DONE!!!!!! what a shambols and Easter coming up ......think those Gospel folks should start praying for the Clacton shopkeepers ,poor bu****s ,I really feel sorry for them.
My elderly neighbour who has cycled into town for 72 years now avoids it as he has been 'near missed ' so many times it scares him.By the way he is a very competent cyclist (you know ,hand signals ,alert ect).

PostPosted: Thu Mar 29, 2007 12:09 am    Post subject: How do you teach an old dog new tricks, or is it new dog Reply with quote

Old tricks.........Oh i dont know...........Ok, as the nice bods at the Gazette have printed summit about this old dog, i had better tell all about my "new trick" so to speak.........lol.........hpe i got it right..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For all of those people, residents, neighbours and friends alike, in todays Coast Gazette on page 6, it published an article about Tuesdays Full Jaywick Forum Meeting which took place at Frobisher School.
The article announces that at that meeting, i have vowed to start a new community association group that is not tied by boundaries, but will include not only BROOKLANDS, and GRASSLANDS but other areas as well..

It is my intension to talk to residents within all of these areas to ask them exactly just what do they want from a residents group, and not be told what they want, as in the past.....

It was with regret that i had to leave the last community group that i had helped set up, but felt that because of internal politics within that group, i had lost all faith in its direction......

The new community group has the backing of the Jaywick Forum, and looks foreword to the new community group being included into the forums spectrum...

One of the first things we have to do is call an A G M and create our constitution, that way we become recognized by all outside forces and legal bodies, this being the cornerstone of our being, and the correct way to do things for our future and the future for Jaywick.

As more news becomes available, i of course will let you know more, and i hope that you will help me / us get it right this time.

Thanking you all, i am, IAN BURIT, proud Jaywick resident.......

I am giving up even looking on the other site as everything takes sooooo long to validate.I think they are letting things slip a bit.I wait for days for something someone has posted to be validated and then....it disappears ,it can be very frustrating for the topic writer to put the effort into a post then it vanishes,Me thinks they won't allow anything that is in opposition to their beliefs.Hardly democratic ,but there you go ,we are only allowed to do what THEY want us to do and say.
We have been getting some rather interesting leaflets from the Labour party coming through the door .They are making a point about our councillors not being local ,banging on anout it left ,right and centre. Now ,I would agree with them but look at the 'local' we are getting as a prospective MP for Clacton.....does IH actually live in Clacton??????.
Sorry but thier rather personal attacks on our current councillors are a bit over the top and although the Labour Party finds them amusing ,vindictiveness is not a very appealing attitude to have.
I can understand how Essexgurl got so fed up with petty politics.
By the way ,in case they read this ,I am one of those 'undecided' voters that does not support a certain party ......I just vote for who I feel will represent us best. They are fast losing this voter by the underhand tactics they are using.
That's it ....Grumpy Old Woman moan over for the day Very Happy

Ok Ivan
Two bars of kit kat and a handful of Chocolate Hob Nobs and a cuppa ,yup feeling happier ,Bloated ,ruined my diet(and the dogs ,he ate more than me ,honest Embarassed but happier Laughing Laughing )

Did I understand this right ? (our more 'in tune' friends should know this)are there going to be two Constituencies at the next General Election ,thus seperating Clacton and Harwich???? I know I must appear (in reality I am) a bit thick but this one has escaped me (one of my Senior Moments ,can't claim its's a Blonde moment Wink ).Could someone enlighten me????

I have never had to wait on the other site ,perhaps I am not too controversial Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Shocked Shocked Shocked But just lately things seem to be very slow and posts disappear before I get the chance to read them ,I have been having better luck on the Gazette website although sometimes a bit risque ,it would seem people can speak about things that do affect them .....please note the Gold Coast Explorer is quiet lately .....you know who you are!!!!!!!
