New Housing?
its needed almost everywhere,
so we are told.
So how about a nice prime site,
cornered by the A12,
the A13,
and the overground railway with its own station just outside the proposed development.
EASY you would say,
well it not quite that easy for this prime site.......
The chip of the old block has yet another vw,
this time a 1970 vintage,
free road tax of course.
Has had remedial work being undertaken on the bodywork, a "new" ok, 2nd hand front wing fitted today, and was started after standing some 2 months.
no problems...
no electronic ignition,
no electronic fuel injection,
just 12 volts in the battery,
some fresh unleaded (all we can now get) from a can, via a pipe to the pump, with some petrol chucked down the carb first,
turn key, and it went..
The peoples car roared into (ok, spluttered) life,
with that unmistakeble noise only a flat four can make.
Had a bit of trouble with mine and not knowing in those days took to knowledgeable aquaintence and he looked at the oil found splinters of metal within and pronounced the engine fit only for scrap so of it went to be melted down again. Sad really.
Next bought a Variant lovely engine told myself it was the same block as a Porche, Ha! Ha!
