And some flower planting along the promenade
And no cutting the hedge back in spring when the birds nest. Anyone else would be arrested!! Do it in Autumn instead.
A proper swimming poole with plumes and things near the town centre so it is more central for every one to use. The shops may benefit too if it brings people into town. Better than all those stupid flats that are not selling.
I take up suffolkpunch's point, stop cutting the hedge along Marine Parade during the sensitive bird season.
I know TDC are very aware of the risk of being brought to book so next year I'm going to report them to the wildlife officer at Clacton Police station. Having had discussions with him during the last year I can vouch for his keeness to protect bird life.
About 1.6million people were counted coming through the port a couple of years ago, if trade is important could not something be done to encourage tourist to deviate from their headlong rush south? Essex gained (according to ECC) £487 million from tourism in 2003.
The post below was posted first on Douglas's site, no one picked it up but now Canada is following the USA in clean air policy, we who have a much smaller hinterland than these two giant countries haven't woken up to the health implications and the COST to our people and NHS.

Every time I look over to Felixstowe and see the soot pumping out of those ships I fancy I am breathing it in.
Perhaps I am, perhaps I'm not, but sure as eggs are eggs someone is. So could we not press for cleaner fuel for shipping. The Americans have a twenty mile exclusion zone for bunker fuel around their coast so why can't we?
Bunker fuel= the rubbish left over after all the other fuels are extracted from oil.
Bunker fuel is rich in particulate matter and NOX and SOX

Vancouver to reduce dues for clean fuel
THE Port of Vancouver plans to reward ships which burn cleaner fuel with reduced port dues from the start of April 2007 and will levy higher fees on what it sees as heavily polluting visitors.
The Back Page
And I'd like to see proper sorted at doorstep waste collection.
TDC don't care. They allow it to be mixed because they burn it all. That's what I heard . Anyone know if it's true?
This is something that needs further exploration, what does safe mean? For example, how about finding a way to help cyclists at places where roads narrow. At the moment the cycle track stops and the advice to riders is dismount and walk the dangerous bit, really, is that a good idea? Lots of cylclist wonder if the person or organisation that took the design brief had cycling at heart.
Maybe the council are obliged to have a cycling route but cannot afford one that is truely safe. Councils should admit the problem and say what would it take to provide this service, at least this would provide a starting point for dialogue.
Save some money by NOT putting All the floodlights on the Leisure centre when it's not being used.I see they have all 32 lights on at the moment and 4 blokes on the pitch....it's 2.20 in the afternoon for goodness sake ...
Agree about Old Road ,There used to be swings and things there ,ok not a huge amount but something is better than nothing.
i used to play on old road playing fields everyday during the school holidays many moons ago!
these fields were left to the council on the understanding they were to be kept as a play area, a friend of mine has it on his deeds for his house.
best thing they could do there is cut the football pitches from 2 to 1 and build a new playpark.
I don't think TDC would like that.
You see ,that nasty little group called 'Locals' would use it and it's too far away from the town centre and holidaymakers .
Lin polishing the radiators so hubby thinks I have been busy
Now we have confirmation of the new toilets for Dovercourt - big cheer - I would like to see the skating rink done up - the whole area really and made more inviting and appealing for people of all ages.
EssexGurl tries to figure out what this work thing is people keep talking about and fails.

lin did you get your radiators done!!??
At work we print magazines for councils up and down the country, one council has a brilliant action plan in the summer they have what they call a sports van,a van full of sports equipment.during the school holidays a van drives around the district and when they see groups of youths hanging around they pull over and ask them if they fancy a game of football, cricket, hockey, rounders etc.
perhaps that could work here.
Thought I would really THINK BIG and came up with an idea to turn one of our biggest eyesores into something grand.
What about ,if money were really no object and this would never happen .Turn the Pavillion into a Botanical Garden ,south -facing ect it would be ideal to turn into Clactons very own Eden Project ,glass dome on top .......well..... we are allowed to dream.....
Anyone got anymore GRAND IDEAS for local eyesores ?????

Sounds very good to me, we could take a new look at the few remaining open spaces and see if the neighbours wouldn't mind those no ball games signs coming down.
Where my friends live there is a no balls game sign near by. Despite there being a playing field near by they are constantly being asked by kids if they can have their ball back as they have kicked it over into their garden. Sometimes 4 times a day. If they are too busy or as normally happens eating when there is yet another knock at the door they tell the kids they will have to wait. You can be sure that 5 mins later there is another knock at the door. The kids have even been known to climb over a very high wall to get their balls back if they dont get any joy from my friends straight away. The kids who do know better care little about all the plants etc that have been ruined by the balls raining down hard into their garden. Nor do they care that when they climb over the wall and walk over the shed roof that they are breaking it. Nor do they care that one of the balls has put a huge crack in their backdoor window. My friend has a little one and is at times scared to let him play out back for fear that he'll get hit by one of these balls. For 7 years they have been asking these kids to stop and for 7 years they have apologised and gone back right to doing it.
Kids need somewhere to play but sometimes those no ball games signs are there for a reason.
lin, you live near vista rec have they done the playground up yet? i remember the council calling that park the jewel in the crown and all it consists of is a few swings and a slide!!
i remember as a kid carrying my bike up the slide and trying to ride it down and falling off half way, cutting my knee open and having 6 stitches,im glad to say ive grown up into a mature responsible adult!
Now you are being silly ,course they haven't done it up ,when I last looked (this morning) there is a rusting helicopter climbing frame and thats it unless you want to count what fencing is left on it.
As you know ...family trees ect ....I came across a photo taken when I was a toddler of me sitting on that very slide.
The words S%&* h^&e springs to mind.
I remember the putting green over there and the little kiosk where you could hire bats and tings ,oh and ice creams I used to get Heart lollies...ooooh best stop as I'm getting all reminiscent now.
Did you know they used to play County ...yes County cricket over there??
I also have maps from circa 1930's of what was there .
Oh happy days when the sun always shone .....now I sound like Ivan the Scootie boy
