OK, just where do you put Great oakley then........
Gt.Oakley is a quaint little village, thats rise to fame is because its in the middle of two mad-house areas in Tendering...
Harwich.......And clacton,ish.......
But, once upon a time, in the middle of some sunday afternoons, a little known road and track called Farm Road came alive with the noise of roaring beasts, and the crowds that flocked to see them.....
Just what was all the commotion and attraction.......
Dah--Dah------
It was a much younger Ivan the terrible, and his chums, that some had traveled far far away just to reach Gt. Oakley and its quiet quaintness, for it to be turned into monsterous madness thats called BANGER RACING.
Oh how i loved it.
Oh how the crowds loved it.
Oh how most of the residents liked it not much really.....
OH, ok, shut up ivan, as time came to pass, no doubt the planning laws were passed..!!!...
And Gt. Oakley Banger Racing track was no more......
A right shame really, as i loved it there, but, its life as they say..
I did have a look on google earth the other day, same farmers fields, but no sign of the track..
All long ago ploughed up and gone..........
Still, been there / done that....memories do live for ever, if only for racing.
Was 27 years ago i was last there though.............(can i go and have a look at the field please....brumm-brumm.........ha..ha..ha..)
And so cranky old Ivan walks off into the sunset of his youth..(do what..??..)............................
