How much do we need to regenerate jaywick
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you had to set a figure of how much to spend in jaywick,
to get it to everybody's satisfaction,
to get everybody to agree on just what they want,
to get landlords to agree on what to do with their investment,
to get the holiday home owners to agree (they do pay 90 % of full council tax after all, and that is MORE than a lot of residents on benefits)
to get the last remaining 20 % of actual owner occupiers to agree on what they really want,
to get TDC , EEDA, GO-East and ALL the other stakeholders to agree on what they really want....
Then just how much would the NET resulting really - really want - cost...
We have TDC offering 1 £million quid, but, but we are already spending 50% of £3.7 million quid over 4 years now = about £437.5,000 per year now...
SO in real terms, 1 £ million quid will do diddly squat will it...
Lets step back and look who gets what elswhere..
Colchester Visual Arts Facility (VAF) is costing a whopping great £17 million quid...........17 million pounds, just for an horrid looking building thats been beset with problems from the start, and got a shelf life of just 25 years...
value for money.........uummmm, i don't think so...do you.
The Thames gateway, on both sides of the Thames, with so many against it, so many looking at the cost predictions...
.......£ 9 BILLION QUID.............i`m not joking either..
So back to jaywick, well one officer would like us to believe we can get by with the odd change out of £ 3 million its getting from a boot sale of bits and bobs..
we want the last 30 odd years worth of boot sale bits and bobs, but its going to cost a lot more than the £1 mill, more like £100 million £Quid / pounds euros, gold bars or what else you need to spend out, but definitely LOTS more than a paltry £1 million quid........
I really think its time someone gets a grip on reality when it comes to jaywicks future.
The statement from TDC`s leaders is that it will be the legacy for jaywick after the men in grey suits have gone away.
........just hang on a bit though,
with our ward councillor Roy Smith at the helm for the last 30 odd years, we have seen so many men in grey suits been and gone over the years, especially from the "Jaywick - a chance in a lifetime" that rolled on from 1995 with so many grey suits, so many elected councillors, so many out of town controllers, consultants, asperasionalists, so many "you don't want to do this, but do it like that`s" so much PAID help WASTED down the plug hole, and i`m asked....
.............IAN, what DO you want....................
In the new year, as a community we have to, no need to, all get together, in a central location, to sit quietly and rationally, and talk about just WHAT we want..
do we stay, or do we go.
do we want new houses built or ours re-built.
YOU TELL ME, WE TELL OTHERS, we use the buddy system to tell our neighbours, our neighbours tell their neighbours, their neighbours tell their friends, the friends tell their friends in their groups that meet for activities, the library, the line dancing, the tea and natter groups, the church groups, the mums and toddler groups, the email groups...
USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM TO GET IT ACCROSS..
Never sit alone with it, tell a friend your worries, your hopes.
Then and only then can we go to all the "grey suits" and say
this is it, its what we want...take it or leave it, but dont think were giving it up on a plate....
..........Jaywick, its ours, the residents..............
So, enough of my views, next its yours....replies most welcome.
respectfully yours, Ian Burrit. brooklands residents representatives..

As we are to be granted a sum of £1 million for regeneration in Jaywick, with a further £2 million for elsewhere, look at another seaside Town, and how much is being spent..............AMAZING SUMS OF MONEY.........
English seaside resort.
Fish and chips and old folk dozing off in deck chairs with knotted hankies on their heads.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Regeneration.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Projects amounting to a staggering £650 million have just been unveiled.
It comes as a complete contrast to the bleak picture painted by the recient Parliamentary report into England's coastal towns: young people moving out, old folk moving in, no jobs, poor housing and a lack of economic investment......
£500m will see the building of thousands of holiday homes, a hotel, music arena, conference centre and ice skating rink.
£100m is the price tag on a proposed marina, being planned by two successful hoteliers
£50m is aimed at bringing new development to the local area..
Laurence Davis: pumping £500m into Fantasy Island
The successful Fantasy Island theme park and outdoor market have been taken over by a London property group Conduit.
Chief executive Laurence Davis sees the area as ripe for development.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"With global warning the English coast is becoming a more attractive proposition for holidaymakers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We did a search around Britain and we thought the area had both the tradition of a great resort and the need for regeneration.
"When we looked at Fantasy Island, we saw great potential - it is an ideal site with plenty of visitors and the loyalty factor is tremendous."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The area has the biggest concentration of caravans in Europe, but Conduit want to move slightly upmarket, with an initial phase of 1,800 holiday homes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A hotel and other facilities will follow, and the site is one of three in the area bidding to build a small casino.
Taj Bola: behind the new marina plan...
The Bola brothers from Leicester used to visit for holidays as children.
Now successful businessmen, they have returned to help transform the resort.
Waterfront development
They have turned a derelict hotel into the Royal Renaissance Hotel and Bollywood Restaurant at a cost of £12m, but their next plans are much more ambitious: a waterfront development and marina.
Artist impression of proposed marina
"The marina project is designed to breathe new life into the area which needs innovative developments to take it to its next level.
"It is important that the resort moves away from seasonality to appeal as a year round destination.
"There is a real need to establish energizing facilities to stimulate the town to enthral new visitors".
District Council 'onboard'
And District Council has launched a £50m to improve the area, often seen as the neglected part of the coast.
The council is excited about the high level of private investment in the coast.
A Chief executive said: "Our area already a major resort but in ten years time we want it up there in the top one or two.
"We have a lot to offer, we are expanding, and we are looking at a countryside park along the coast.
"We aim to be a major tourist attraction that people will come to, year in and year out."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
AND JUST WHERE DO YOU THINK THIS FOREWARD THINKING COASTAL HOLIDAY AND RESIDENTIAL AREA IS.................
CLACTON _ ON _SEA..........................
NO, SORRY TO SAY ITS NOT, ITS MILES AWAY, IN LINCOLNSHIRE...
ITS SKEGNESS, THAT MUCH RUN DOWN AREA ON ITS OWN COAST, BUT THAT COAST THAT WILL SEE REGENERATION TAKE PLACE TO ENSURE ITS SURVIVAL AMOUNG THE FITTEST...
And Tendering, well, you and me will still have to wait to see just what, if any, plans we have coming up sometime soon, if ever....
As the man with two hats sits and shakes his head in disbelife at whats going, or not going on, around him.... _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |
This rumoured £1million is just hogwash, pure spin, in fact lots of hot air not even in the real world..
To realise 1 £million first TDC has to indentify "assetts" it deems surplus to requirements..
OK, this then could take 3 - 5 years to establish just what they want or dont want..
In this ensuing time, we will be treated like fools IF we then belive that..OH LOOK< we have found yet another 1£million for Jaywick..
This like a true seaside puch and judy show can be brought out at every party time and say.....Thats the way to do it.......
The people that belive that we, the residents, belive TDC with any sort of credible reasoning should themselves go look into a very large mirror and repeat...
+++++++++++++ ITS TIME WE GOT INTO THE REAL WORLD +++++++++
being punch and judy`s news team must seem a bit soul destroying when you have to put out so much cr*p that you know people in our borough just do not belive anymore..............
A few years ago, a daily newspaper that needed punters to read the cr*p it printed put a news item that said...in big headlines...
+++++DOUBLE DECKER BUS FOUND ON MOON+++++++++
One or two of TDC`s lot must have read that story and thought it a good idea.....
Keep taking the medication guy`s....................lol..... _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |
