|
|
I see in todays EG that Mistley Council are going to ask Tendring Council for £24,000 to build a wall to keep the swans out.
The mind boggles ,do they not realise that swans can Fly ???
Anyway my beef is that I know those birds have been there for the last 50 years at least.I remember going to visit my Aunty Kitty at Mistley and being sent out to feed the Swans with a stale crust, probably so the 'grown ups' could have a cup of tea in quiet.
Then the village was quite small ,in recent years the population has really grown and the council have decided they do not like the mess that the swans make ,so they are planning on building a wall to keep them out.
I bet the Ice cream man will be pleased to find he has no customers.
What is it that makes us not want to share with the indigenous birds and animals that have more right to be there than most of the humans?.
Who says the swans should not be fed ?
If we didn't keep polluting the natural habitat they wouldn't need feeding .
Grrrrr....off to sit in a dark corner and calm down.

Apologies before anyone gets too upset ,it is 24,000 not 50,000 pounds.

Seeing your posts about swans, makes me feel sad about the swannery in Weymouth Dorset, they have got swans with that H51 or whatever its called.
like most swanneries the weymouth one is so nice, central to the Harbour and Towns development, yet quietly to one side.... _________________ Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil,

Sadly Ivan, I am waiting for the council to use the swannery at Weymouth as an excuse to, shall we say, exterminate the swans in the interests of public health and safety....
I am a huge wildlife freak, always have been, and I get really angry when I see these sort of stories. What people so often forget is that
a: We are actually encroaching on their territory
b. We have no right to call animals dumb, it is simply a case of the fact that we, as human beings, are too dumb to understand their language.
I still hope that one day human beings will understand that everything living thing has a place on this planet and that we, as the supposedly "superior species" have an extra responsibility to ensure that everything is able to fulfill it's role in keeping this planet alive for the benefit of all us "superior species" |

Nature, in the eyes of our lords and masters must take second place to rows and rows of shops filled with junk from abroad. Churn up the sea beds b*gger the spawning fish, dump on the birds, call it a cull, don't want to frighten anyone,do we?
We are going to pay sooner or later, the writings on the wall, and a thousand other cliches |

I agree with pepsi. Why do we have any damn right to destroy so much? And the worst thing is, these things have been there for hundreds of year and can all be brought down in one day because we humans are so selfish. _________________ =D |

In last nights EG(page 5 top left hand column) councillor Richard Horlock said " I think we should put a dead one on the road and say it has bird flu"

Indeed that's the impression I got, are they taking nominations? Would Stephanny count as one vote? :p
Really thoguh, that is actually a disgusting thing to say. I'm really glad I'm leaving this area when we have to put up with twods like our councillors 'respresenting' us! _________________ =D |
