Just thought I would say WELL DONE to Eon Power.
Yesterday some rather wet contractors who were working in appalling conditions cut through our power cables .Accidents happen and we eventually found out the cause of our 'Power Cut' .
Phoned eon at 2pm ,very nice young man took the details and got me to check our supply ect. He said the workmen would be out in 4 hours (so spent the afternoon cooking scones in the quiet ).Gas cooker in case you were wondering.
At 4pm a lovely young lady called Helen rang me to say the power repairs men would be with me in 15 mins , she asked if everyone was ok and was very apologetic about the problem (though I did assure her it was not her fault ).
15 minutes later the chap turned up and within the hour we were all 'back on again'.
At 6pm Helen rang to check all was ok and that we had power.
I just thought I would say what good service we had as we are always hearing about bad service and ,lately people moaning about power cuts due to the weather ect.
So a BIG well done to them all.

As we are all on the `leccy around here, if we have problems, aon are very prompt aswell.....
Its just that they charge me fortunes for the supply.........lol.. _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |

Posted: Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:48 am Post subject: A-ON Power, Poor Pay More, not Pre Payment Meters.... |
|
|
Due to the mystic powers of the universe, and A-on with their billing schedules, i recieved my latest "for information only" bill.
As i live on modest means, for the past 5 years i have been using a pre payment meter.
The type that a government inquiry inspector called a
"poor - pay - more" meter..
The charges for electric are:-
day - 10.31p per unit
night - 4.65p per unit
standing charge (the cost per day for the privilidge of going out in the cold to purchase top-ups for the meter key).........wait for it.......................
a staggering.....34.3p per day...
In 61 days i paid £20.92 just for that........£20.92....wasted money....ROBBED...
£69.70 for day usage
£36.50 for night usage..
Total = £127.12 + VAT = £133.48....for a small bungalow.....for 61 days..
-----------------POOR IN FACT DO PAY MORE INDEED-------------------
Now the funny part.
as i`ve reached 60 years of age, i phoned to join Warmfront, spoke to the nice lady, who explained-
oh no, YOU cannot join, you have a pre payment meter (poor pay more)
To change YOUR meter, you will have to pay £50 just to get us (A-ON) to do it, and have a credit search before hand...........
at this point i began to loose control, in the past 5 years we had no debt as we purchased out poor pay more electric on a "as needed" basis...
yesterdays bill shows we have in fact got a £125.30 CREDIT.
A small fact is when you work out 34.3 x 365 days = 1 year = £125.195 = the amount i`m "not" in credit for......WEIRD...STRANGE..or DELIBERATE..!
When i asked to have the £50 meter change money taken from that £125.30, the icy cold reply was, oh no, your NOT in credit, its just the way we work it out..
DOOOHHHHHHHH.........after 5 years, we CANNOT be in debt, so we must be in credit....
On a previous comunication with said A-ON department, they quoted me to have a free meter installed with age related benefits, which later they recinded on,
even telling me i had £100 odd pounds debt, which is totaly untrue.....
POOR PAY MORE indeed its true, even i was sent figures to prove (wrongly) by A-ON that i pay LESS than on a buget scheme...
with a fixed charge of 34.3p PER DAY and dearer day & night charges per unit, why do A-ON keep up these HUGE LIES to older age users........
Belive me, it is not over untill the fat lady sings (very angry fat man in my case) A-ON........gggrrrrr i`m now really angry..... _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |

We too have one of those stupid meters .Inherited from the previous person who lived here .
We too have tried everything to get rid of the blasted thing. We changed both supplies to British Gas as they 'promised' to get it changed (ok ,admittedly they DID change the Gas pre-payment one as I had to go into my neighbours garden to access it ,and ,sometimes it would be at the dead of night in the winter as we could not see it to find out how much gas we had left.) my poor neighbour had to put up with me creeping around his back garden in the dark ,with my nightie on and wellies ,I am sure he was frightened .
But ,still we are charged extortionate rates for the privilidge of having it.I would be more than happy to pay by direct debit ,but refuse to pay to get the meter changed .Why should I ??,it was not mine in the beginning and I do get annoyed by it.Especially as they are meant to help poorer (hate that elitist word) folk pay for energy. So why ask them to pay more ,it's all rather crazy ,you have problems paying for energy ,so they come up with a scheme which makes you pay more ,crazy ,crazy world.
OK ,I'll give you another poser. We live in maisonettes ,we share a water supply with the man downstairs ,when he runs his taps we have no water ,if we want to run water for more tham 20 minutes ie a pond ect ,the water runs out .Yet we pay seperate bills which amount to over £700.00 a year for this 'service'.
Next door ,they fought to have seperate supplies which happened ,but , the utilities had to dig through my chap downstairs front room to access the pipes. Now he is an elderly chap (sorry if you read this neighbour ,I know you think you are still young)and cannot be doing with the hassle again just to get seperate supplies so we have a catch 22 situation .We cannot even get a water metre because of this .So ,effectively we are stuck with two utilies that are charging us a fortune.
By the way ,the workmen were back yesterday and managed to dig up the water pipes so a free car wash was in operation for most of the day.
Still smiling though. |

My neighbour has a pre-payment meter.
She doesn't want it.
Her flat is rented and her landlord (a mysterious man who she never deals with. It's all done via the letting agency) refuses to allow her to change to a billing system. This is despite her living where she is for four years with a perfect credit history.
E.ON need the permission of the house/flat owner before they will change payment methods. |

"my poor neighbour had to put up with me creeping around his back garden in the dark ,with my nightie on and wellies ,I am sure he was frightened"...
OH young Lin, wish you was my neighbour.....ha..ha..ha...
OK, back to the plot.. .hmmmm
how can i have a bill one month being in credit,
and the next saying i am in debt....... ggrrrrrrrrr
and to make things worse, one of our local power key chargers added 50p if you wanted £5 or less charged to your normal bank debit card, the very same card we were told to use as it is as good as cash...... ...hhmmmmmm
If, just if, i went into said shop, once a day for a week to purchase £1 of electric, it would have cost me £10-50p, not £7.....INFLATION or greed, but by who... ??
We need more posts by like minded residents who belive we are being ripped of by power & water companies for our "right to have" utilities.
we do not live in the third world, but are being treated as such. _________________ In truth we seek,In truth we learn,In Tendering,We get neither.. |
