Tonight i was prompted to watch a programme on information tv on the sky network.
it featured Clactons own RNLI and were filmed undergoing training proceedures on both of their watercraft, launching craft, and both crews, and launch crews.
It was quite interesting as they are local, do a good job, and offer there time free.
At the very end of the programme they interviewed a Tim Sutton who is mechanic to the station.
It was explained all members live or work very close the the emergancy station, in case of time constraints in the event of need..
On the other side of the slipway there is placed a nice green portacabin, which i believe is for TDC`s beachfront manager, who`s duties extend from Clacton round to Harwich.
Its nice to see his work is right on the beach so to speak, as Tim can oversee any problem as it arises.
The programme made the point of employed RNLI members have to have employers who are pliant in letting go of workforce in emergancy situations.
We should thank Tim`s employers for this possable life saving situation as and when it occurs.
Tim explained he is TDC`s beachfront manager....

I should also point out the RNLI members are not paid or re imbursed in any way, but do the job freely on a if needed basis.
As a bye the bye, the cost of running just Clactons Station is SO expensive, all being found from donations.

I must admit these guys deserve our thanks big time, where on earth would we be without such selfless people?
Thinking of these men and in the background women too acting for the good of others does to some extent restore this cynics faith in humanity. |
