I have reprinted this reply of mine to a visitors question..

Vacant Plots
Hi All.

Just dropped in. I travel with my kids to Jaywick regularly. Fantastic beach etc.

Now, here's the question. Who owns the derelict plots? Who would I approach if I wanted to purchase one?

HO--HO--HO. oldholborn..
I wish life was as simple as that.
OK, first question, if, just if, you found that one or more of the empty plots were up for sale, why would you want to purchase it / them.
Ok, if you had the idea to buy one, then build on it, fine you`d think...but think again.
We have so many local planning rules and restrictions, residents cannot even put a shed up in their own garden without planning permission.
If i wanted to build a normal porch to the outside of my front door, planning permission needs to be applied for.
we in Jaywick, are being forcably told we CANNOT improve our properties..full stop.
we in Jaywick, are being told we cannot rebuild our proprties..full stop.
I have a near neighbour who applied 7 times for planning to build a new place on his own empty plot, each time it was turned down for various reasons, one being in a flood risk zone.
I will go onto TDC`s website to get an example.

use this link, explore all the seperate links for that address

On the otherhand, if you wanted to buy one to grass it over, grow plants that dont die if covered with wind blown sand, then i guess thats fine.. .lol..

Good luck oldholborn, dont be a stranger, if i or we can help you or anyone who visits us proud folk here in sunny old jaywick, then your welcome matey...
