The really worrying thing Ivan is even if they plan to build 55,000 homes as eco friendly how small a percentage is that?

Far better they spend some loot on insulating every home in the UK, rich and poor alike.

Go for LED lighting don't worry about the colour of the white light, just get on with it.

Stop importing rubbish, and for that matter exporting it too.

Develop some safe electric blanckets for the old to wear when sitting on the sofa or chair, watching TV in the winter.

amenity, i too have taken advantage of all the age related offers available to me for my home.
I could not have modern updated wall insulation as it is only single skin.
one corner bedroon with two exposed sides had been already insulated from the inside.
The roofspace has been insulated up to modern requirements, keeps cold out as well as some of the summer heat from coming in.
Our extension new kitchen / dining room has block walls, added outside insulation, covered with water and damp proof membrain, steel mesh to hold thick render, then pebbledashed for looks...thick, modern, and efficient.
the floor is solid concrete about a metre or so deep, but just below the solid tiled floor lies a thick insulation called kingspan, a honeycombed middle with thick foil outer layer.

Our old bathroom was redone complete with double shower enclosure, new whitwear and wiring..
All the windows and doors have been renewed at the same time..
Our roof was inspected, and was classed as "not needing any work at all"
Earlier this year we had new storage heaters fitted with the associated new wiring.

Some of this work was grant funded, some not.
ALL of this work is certified, checked by outside sources, and certificated as being correct to current day standards, with certificates retained by myself.

BUT, if you dont ask, you dont get.

My home, my bungalow, often refured to as a "chalet" is probabaly more bigger than modern built homes, more modern than most TDC homes, and more compliant than many - many homes.
Its all i own, but its mine - outright.
Its all electric, but we are used to it by now.

I was told to never sho*t the bearer of gifts, more so if its well in my favour...

We feel happy, safe and settled, but we are not both blind or stupid,
and constantley search for regeneration news.....
