Funny how they offer the reader of their website a variety of jobs and at the bottom of the advert say, to find out more about these fixed term contracts visit the website.

Funny thing is...For exceptional candidates there may be scope for negotiation,
right next to a picture of a huge cruise liner....

Any spaces left for the new (soon to be ex?) head of Suffolk Council @ £240 K a year...well handy to pop off on a cruise, while "in the office" on a lap top...

We just cannot expect people to relinquish their advantages on a self governing basis.

The trouble with this sort of income (£4,600 week) is that it takes two days each week to avoid the taxman.

I just set about wondering if the head does 48 hours a week then taking ten minutes of to go to the loo will cost about 16 quid.

its also ironic that for half a million quid, you can rent it by the day for just 20p.

sandwiches / hot flasks and travel rugs optional.......

(not yet read its bylaws, but surely its not a "timed" event in the Mahal)

Back to the 100 Ideas thingy.
How about ,all along the greensward up to Holland on sea ,cutting all the grass into grass mazes (s'okay ,you can all come out from behind the sofas now ,MAZES not Mayzies ........phew !!!).
I saw something on a small scale at Hunstanton and at Leeds Castle ,the youngsters loved them.
Mind you ,if the Council really wanted to go to town BIG style ,and not too expensive ,how about planting mazes all along the and making it Britains Biggest maze ,think of the tourists !!! Get your ice cream van out Ivan ...we're in business !!!!!!!!!I do get these strange ideas sometimes ,remind me to tell you about the collapsable letter box cages Wink

Well ,having had a few dogs in my time .I decided I was fed up with my letters being eaten before I got to read them.
Now ,my front door opens inwards against a wall ,so I could not put one of those letterbox cages on as I wouldn't be able to open the door fully .So ,I thought ,what about a folding one that collapses when the door is opened ,by a string going up .over the door attatched to the frame.That way ,when the door is shut ,the box is open ,but when you come through the door ,the string pulls the box to close upwards ,thus allowing you room to get in.

There you go Ivan ,now you know what I think up in the small wee hours.
Probably been invented ,but never found one .Husband thinks I'm daft ,so does my neighbour who is eldrly and is finding it a stuggle to ride his bike(I came up with a sail solution for this problem ) .
Oh I have dozens of inventions in this blonde head Very Happy

Luckily with my lovely dog I have now ,this problem has disappeared as I have taught him to bring the mail up (and the paper) and place it on the coffee table ready for when I read them. Cool

Though it has not stopped him from eating my shoes ,the hall carpet ,hall walls ,various clothes ,balls and Embarassed

undies.Not forgetting the wonderous contents of my recycling bin.

Oh young Lin,
your remote string pulled collapsable letter cage is actually a good idea.
perhaps it could be made with a coiled spring along one of its edges that allows the
cage to collapse when it comes into contact with the wall ?.

Your other sail-bike idea had me smiling at the idea i saw on an old top gear show on telly when Mr Slow (James May) fitted a sail to his triumph herald, made it water tight (he thought) and tried to sail accross the channel at Dover in it..
He nearly sank........lol.
I think you neighbour may need to read up on rechargeable bikes..

To a dog, the treasures of a recycling bin are immense.
my two bi*ches (the jack russells naughty), just jump out of their basket at the first sound of an empty plastic bottle.
not only do they unscrew the tight caps, then chew them into tiny pieces all over my carpets (good old dyson hoover to the rescue)
but for some reason try to eat the bottle tops off..
( i must remember to feed them).........ha..ha..ha..

In reality, both them and my other queen of the castle, piddles the cat, are most fussy eaters........pets, who would have them eh..

Had to post this picture.I have been waiting days for my bid to be the highest on ebay ,and ,whopee ,I got it.
It's the chidrens boating lake at what is now the Leisure Centre .In the background is County High School .
The post mark is 22/8/1930 .

Even Jaywick had a boating lake before its own railway line, both long gone..

As our revamped lifestyles tingy has sprouted cracks already (not just the management either)
if it was erected over an old lake, how was the lake fed...

no jokes about unstability please.....lol.

When i was a child (still am but older) and living in NAM (dagenham) we had a most marvellous place right next to the railway between Becontree and Upney stations, called Mayesbrook Park.
It had 2 boating lakes and a most regal structure on the first one where the old "parky" used to sit and survey all his kingdom, and if he caught you cycling (not allowed then) he would blow his whistle with fury, then chase you on his bike.

The parky has gone along with the regal structure, but the lakes remain.

I am sitting looking at a London A to Z with pages open that covers
Chadwell Heath down to Barking, across to Becontree and Rush Green down to Dagenham East.

In these two pages of them areas, it shows 21 parks and playing fields and 11 ponds or lakes.

I had forgot all about them untill i opened this A to Z map...

I had lived in some of them areas at times in my life, and had driven around that area as a cabbie for years...

5 years of living in the calm of my part of Jaywick, while awaiting the latest regen thinking makes you forget things easy....

Anyone remember my idea of letting the grass on the greensward grow and cut mazes (no ,not Embarassed

cor salt and vinegar) , in them?.
Well ,I found this one ,do you reckon TDC would go for it ?????. sorry it's such a small pic but knowing you lot ,it will get googled.I found it in a 500 days out in England Book (funnily enough Clacton does not feature) that we picked up for a fiver in Tesco.
