Magic 'Ice' Rink - Grand Opening Saturday 15th November

Nicky Slater from TV's "Dancing on Ice" will be here to open our Magic 'Ice' Rink on Saturday 15th November at 12pm and demonstrate his skating skills!
The first 30 children (under 14) to call in to the Information Centre before midday on the day will be able to skate with Nicky after he officially opens the rink! Nicky will then be here to answer questions on skating before officially switching on our Christmas lights in support of Little Haven's Children's Hospice at 4pm!

The rink will then be open from Saturday 15th November until Sunday 4th January 2009. It is suitable for all ages and abilities and also includes disabled access - so don't worry if you've never tried it before! Dual bladed skates are available for younger skaters and a skate sledge for disabled access. It's just £3.00 for adults and £1.50 for children for a 40 minute session - includes skate hire. Open daily from 10am to 5.30pm, 11am to 4.30pm on Sundays.(Closed Christmas Day).

New Stores Opening Soon!

Two new stores should be open in time for our Magic 'Ice' Rink!
"Heavenly Cakes and Cookies" will be a store with a difference! You will be able to buy their delicious homemade cakes and cookies with a tea, or coffee to try in their cosy tearoom. Enjoyed your cake? Well now you can have your cake and eat it - you'll be able to order one for your birthday, wedding, or any other occasion!

Our second new store "The Shop Around the Corner" will offer a great range of pictures, greeting cards and giftware, with more ranges being added over time to include picture frames and more - giving you even more reasons to come back and visit them!

Santa's Grotto and Enchanted Forest

Visit Father Christmas and see his wonderful enchanted forest, as you make your way to his Grotto. You will then meet Father Christmas and receive a present, plus the opportunity to have your picture taken with him!
This is just £3.50 with present, or £5.00 with a present and photo - accompanying adults are free. Father Christmas is here on: 15, 22, 23, 29, 30 November. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 December. Opening times are: Saturdays 12pm to 5pm. Sundays 11am to 4pm. Then 12pm-5pm on Monday 22nd & Tuesday 23rd December and 11am-3pm on Christmas Eve - he has to be away early then for obvious reasons!

World Record Christmas Cracker Pull with Dream 100!

We're teaming up with Dream 100 and their Road Runners on Saturday 22nd November at 1pm to attempt a World Record Christmas Cracker Pull!
So why not come along and join us - YOU could be part of something BIG and help us to put Clacton on the map by attempting to break the World Record for the largest simultaneous Christmas Cracker Pull! Plus you can say that you were there when the entry goes in to the Guinness Book of Records(tm)! Visit www.dream100.com for more details!

Planning Application Update

And finally, I'm also pleased to announce that all of our planning applications submitted so far have been approved.
This is marvellous news for the centre and means that refurbishment works on the main scheme will start early in 2009. Works in the car park will take longer, but detailed planning applications for this area of the centre will also follow soon.

Sunday 11am - 5pm
Bank Holidays 10am - 5pm

Good news for the devotee`s of the booty amenity.

Boot sales are not really my thing, but they are for many people, including my imiediate family.
I like to amble around them once in a while, but am careful not to bring home "treasures" i dont really want.... Wink ..lol

I do have family who appear at the crack of dawn to hunt out treasures though... Shocked

Well, that is an improvement. I really wish them well in the refurbishment of this area and , it seems , they are keeping their word.
Who fancies a go at the Cracker Pull ??
and ,I will also be taking the Grandchildren to see Santa ,not sure about Ice-Skating though , think I'll leave that one for the younger ones  Smile .

Ah ,but Vicar ,my skates have wheels on and ,if you notice my rather big end on the avatar ,it's because I have a cushion up there  Laughing .
I don't do skates AND slippery ice ,broken too many bones this year.  Wink
Now ,if it were stilt walking ,I'd be there like a shot.

That cake shop sounds rather nice too, though would I make it there before the lure of Thorntons gets me ???.
AND , am I too big to sit on Santas knee.

Nice cushion though.

You're never too big to sit on his knee.
One of my fondest memories is of a couple of years ago when I took my wife and m-i-l to a Turkey and Tinsel week at a hotel in Gt Yarmouth. I didn't kow that Turkey and Tinsel is designed for really old people. I was the youngest bloke there and every time I went to the bar I could feel all these eighty-year-old Dorises undressing me with their eyes. Trouble is, none of them could remember why. You wouldn't believe how vicious pass the parcel can be, and cheat?. Never seen anything like it and I speak as a veteran of many children's parties.
On "Christmas Day" the great man himself appeared. I thought he looked suspiciously like Bob, the hotel owner. No-one else agreed but I suspect my eyesight was better than theirs. (My daughter's mother-in-law went to one on the Isle of Wight. The hotel was owned by an Asian family and they got the shock of their lives when Santa appeared)
Meanwhile in Gt Yarmouth, all the old dears wanted a picture taken of themselves sitting on Santa's lap so they could take it home and make all the others jealous at the next meeting of the Prince Albert fan club. I mean Prince Albert as in Queen Victoria's consort, not... Oh never mind)
Anyway, I shall never forget the sight of my wife (who will never be "Slimmer of the Year", (Thank goodness)) sitting on his right knee, and mother-in-law who captained the England eating team from 1938 to 2004 sitting on the other.

And then,..........AND THEN.........he bounced them up and down. Respect.
